Sometimes you want to take a swing for the fences and select players who have high ceilings but might not have steady, predictable floors.
Other times you want to play it safe and get yourself a consistent player from whom you can expect a reliable weekly output.
Here are 3 wide receivers with high floors for the 2024 fantasy football season.
Mike Evans, WR/Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Evans has been about as steady as they come throughout his time in the league. Ten straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards, and seven seasons with at least 8 touchdowns. When we found out that Baker Mayfield might not completely suck after all, it only secured Evans’ place as a weekly dependable starter even further. Evans might flirt with backend WR1 status although he’ll never get near the top of the list. But as far as a plug-and-play receiver you never really have to worry about, he’s your guy.
D.K. Metcalf, WR/Seattle Seahawks
Metcalf, like Evans except on a shorter career wavelength, has been a yearly dependable starter. Sadly, he’s been spending much too much time as a WR2, but he’s about as reliable a WR2 as they come. He’s too big and fast a receiver not to at least give you a reliable floor but also has the potential for spike weeks. You can feel confident drafting Metcalf as your WR2 and getting solid contribution from him.
D.J. Moore, WR/Chicago Bears
Moore took the NFL by storm last year in his first season in Chicago. He had Justin Fields throwing him the ball and he was the featured receiver in that Bears offense by a long shot. Now the Bears have added extra weapons such as Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze and Moore’s prospects of finishing as a WR1 again seem dim. However, don’t let the pendulum swing 180 degrees the other way. He just inked a big time extension with the Bears and he clearly is in the offense’s plans. You have every right to draft him as your WR2 and feel confident that he’s going to get a ton of targets from rookie Caleb Williams and provide you a steady floor.
