Sometimes you want to take a swing for the fences and select players who have high ceilings but might not have steady, predictable floors.
Other times you want to play it safe and get yourself a consistent player from whom you can expect a reliable weekly output.
Here are 3 quarterbacks with high floors for the 2024 fantasy football season.
Brock Purdy, QB/San Francisco 49ers
Purdy has sort of embodied what a floor quarterback is all about. He’s not a star quarterback by any means and likely never will be. That’s why he was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. And don’t start bringing up Tom Brady’s draft position. But what Purdy is and has been so far in his short career is a fairly reliable fantasy starter. He might have some spike weeks because he has incredible weapons around him. But he’s not a runner, so he lacks that big play ability to give him consistent, weekly Top 5 upside. He’ll continue to have a high floor due to the 49ers’ offensive firepower.
Jordan Love, QB/Green Bay Packers
Love just became the highest-paid quarterback (and player) in the NFL. He came out of nowhere last season in his first stint as a starter and finished as a Top 5 fantasy quarterback. He certainly could be listed as a high-ceiling player as well because I think there is still room for growth. But at the very least, he is a high-floor player because he’s not going to put up too many clunkers given his array of weapons in an offense tailored by Matt LaFleur. Love only had two games last season outside the Top 18, and finished 11 games as a QB1. He’s going to be a dependable weekly starter for your team and he doesn’t cost what the “elite” options at his position do.
Trevor Lawrence, QB/Jacksonville Jaguars
I had hopes when Lawrence entered the league that he could be an eventual Top 5 quarterback, but I’m just not so sure that’s in the cards for him at this point. He can run, but he doesn’t, which means his ceiling is a bit limited. He had 8 QB1 finishes a year ago and he only really bottomed out against some of the top defenses in the league. He’ll likely finish as a low-end QB1 again and provide weekly quality numbers.
