3 high-floor running backs for fantasy football [2024]

Finding a high-floor running back can give you peace of mind when setting your starting lineup each week.

Sometimes you want to take a swing for the fences and select players who have high ceilings but might not have steady, predictable floors.

Other times you want to play it safe and get yourself a consistent player from whom you can expect a reliable weekly output.

Here are 3 running backs with high floors for the 2024 fantasy football season.

Isiah Pacheco, RB/Kansas City Chiefs

A seventh round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pacheco has been a pleasant fantasy surprise the past few years. He’s got 4.3-4.4 speed and runs like a bat out of hell. With how successful and high-powered the Chiefs offense is, Pacheco is used quite frequently to keep pressure off Patrick Mahomes. If Mahomes is the captain of the ship, Pacheco is the engine, churning below deck. While he likely will never be in contention for the RB1 overall due to the other weapons in the Chiefs’ offense, he will consistently produce high-floor numbers on a weekly basis.

Derrick Henry, RB/Baltimore Ravens

Henry’s age is kind of limiting him from being that yearly force he was with the Titans. And while I don’t think he’s a senior citizen headed for retirement quite yet, I do expect him to slow down a bit and not get the same workload he did a few years ago. I would expect the run-heavy Ravens to utilize him wisely rather than excessively and he’ll put up efficient weekly fantasy numbers to give you a nice baseline each time you put him in your lineup.

Kyren Williams, RB/Los Angeles Rams

I kind of hold the “buyer beware” mindset with Williams after his breakout season a year ago. Williams was an RB1 in all but three of his games last year, putting up huge fantasy numbers. But Sean McVay generally has avoided overusing his top running back and instead preferring to spread the load. Williams missed four games last year due to injury and the team also drafted Blake Corum. I expect them to use both backs, with Williams still handling the majority of the carries and churning out solid weekly numbers.
