Buccaneers View Baker Mayfield as Long-Term Answer at Quarterback
Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht told The Athletic that he is eyeing an extension "when the time is right" for quarterback Baker Mayfield, and hopes that Mayfield "continues to be our quarterback for a long time." The 30-year-old Mayfield still has two years remaining on his current contract, but he's coming off the best season of his career in 2024. In 17 games, he threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, chipping in 378 yards and three touchdowns as a rusher for good measure. ...

Jerome Ford Getting Closer to a Return
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that running back Jerome Ford (undisclosed) missed another training camp practice on Friday, but he's getting closer to returning to the field. Ford was able to work out earlier on the field with the athletic training staff, per Scott Petrak of The Elyria Chronicle Telegram. This is a situation of more urgency because of the fact that rookie second-rounder Quinshon Judkins remains unsigned while dealing with charges of domestic violence. The ...

Anthony Richardson Sr. Struggling Early in Training Camp
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. worked with the team's first-team offense in practice on Thursday and was "far from flawless," according to James Boyd of The Athletic. Boyd notes that Richardson was 3-for-7 as a passer with an interception during the 11-on-11 portion of practice. The number four overall pick in the 2023 draft, Richardson Sr. has yet to cement himself as the Colts' franchise quarterback and now finds himself in a battle for the QB1 role with Daniel Jones....

DeAndre Hopkins Back at Ravens Practice on Friday
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (undisclosed) was back in action on Friday after missing the team's Thursday practice with an undisclosed ailment, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said previously that Hopkins was held out as a precaution, and that appears to be the truth. The 33-year-old Hopkins is likely someone who Baltimore will be judicious with in terms of practice workload anyway, so a single-day absence early in camp shouldn't be ...

Justin Jefferson Dealing with Hamstring Strain
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) has suffered a mild left-hamstring strain, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic. Lewis reports that the team plans to be "really cautious" with its star receiver, but does not relay any sort of timeline for his return to practice. Jefferson missed seven games with an injury to his right hamstring back in 2023, so there's a history of soft-tissue injuries in his lower body. The 26-year-old is arguably the best wide receiver in the ...

Savion Williams Dealing With Concussion
ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports that Green Bay Packers rookie third-round wide receiver Savion Williams (concussion) was out of training camp practice on Friday due to a concussion. Williams was able to make a few nice catches in the first couple days of practice, but now he could miss a bit of time, depending on well he can bounce back from his head injury. Head injuries are never good news, but this could be especially troubling for a 23-year-old rookie trying to learn a new offense at the next ...

Tank Bigsby Standing Out in Jaguars Camp
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby has the team's "coaching staff frequently singing his praises" for his work early in training camp, according to John Shipley of Sports Illustrated. Shipley notes that Bigsby "got the bulk of the key reps" and "stood out quite a bit more" than Jaguars running back Travis Etienne. The 23-year-old Bigsby is entering his third year in Jacksonville and could be poised to take over a lead role in the team's backfield. He played in 16 games in 2024, ...
